All handles on all objects in Punch! have the capability of holding splines, as well as location data and so are potentially splinable (that is, their spline control points can be registered and the edges can be curved). However, being splinable also means that the spline values are read and interpreted. This objects in Punch! which do that include:
There are a couple of objects you might have expected to see on this list but did not, such as walls, decks. In these cases curved figures are not allowed by Punch!. This is because they host attachments which require a straight section to work properly (you cannot put a door in a truly curved wall, for example. Since Punch! doesn't allow them to be curved, we won't allow them in Curved to Fit as well, for the same reasons.
On the other hand, three of the objects listed: roof panels, excavations and fences are allowed to be curved, even though Punch! will not show the curves in 3D. The answers why it doesn't aren't clear: curved fences and roof panels, though rare, are not unheard of. Curved excavation are at the whimsy and need of the excavator. Therefore, Curved to Fit allows them to be curved, even though the 3D doesn't support it. In the case of the excavation, the hole in the terrain doesn't support it, while the excavation "floor" does. Go figure.
Punch! has straight stairs, railings and pathways, as distinct from the curved varieties of these objects. The case is most explicit for stairs; the landings for straight and curved stairs are completely different. Adding spline data to straight stairs, paths and railings, or removing it from the curved versions, is useless because Punch! models them first by whether they are curved or not. However, the curved property can also be changed, and on the curved varieties the curve can be changed, so Curved to Fit can handle these. However, be aware that a straight object will be changed to curved throughout if any part of it is curved, and will be straightened when all splines are removed throughout.
