Dimensions in Detail

Introducing Dimensions in Detail, a MicroTool which displays dimensional data the way you want to see it.

Dimensions are basic to building anything. The numbers that accompany the scaled drawings are vital to the understanding of plans. Without them we would not be able to build better than stick houses. Punch! fortunately stores and manipulates positional dimensions to 6+ digits of accuracy in all cases, so this accuracy is always available for delivering dimensions.

Dimensions in Detail allows Punch! users to determine for themselves how the dimensions will look. They determine the measurement system, the units, the presentation format and the precison that the units are reported in. These settings will stay with the project throughout it's life, yet will be able to be changed at a moment's notice. A small selection of the vast number of dimensioning capabilities are displayed to the right.

Just being able to display this new dimensional data is good, but not great, unless more can be done than seeing it on a computer screen. Fortunately, Dimensions in Detail is a MicroTool built atop the PlansPlus PowerTool, and adds it effects to those that PlansPlus delivers - the ability to print plans, with the new dimensional data, to a printer or exporting them as a graphic file and thence to a hard disk, a CD-ROM or even to the Internet or e-mail for instant distribution.

The user of Dimensions in Detail must have the version of PlansPlus which matches Dimensions in Detail installed on the computer in order to use it. Dimensions in Detail and other MicroTools can simultaneously be used to enhance PlansPlus output. The version of PlansPlusrequired to support Dimensions in Detail is displayed below in the Quick Info, and updates are available for free.

Now with version 2.2.1 of PlansPlus, A wall or other object edge that needs to be adjusted in length can be. The option now exists to set the exact length of the wall or edge, and not have to go back to Punch! to make a blind setting.
