GeoDome is a MicroTool that depends upon the PowerTool PlansPlus to provide its basic PowerTool support. With PlansPlus ability to display, export and print Punch! plans GeoDome adds the ability to generate accurate geodesic domes.
GeoDome is for the creation of geodesic domes in Punch!. It creates a dome constructed as a 3D object, which may be further edited in either the Punch! main program or in the Punch! 3d Workshop. The facets of the dome are separable and replaceable, so windows may be created in the 3D workshop and be added to the dome, for example. In addition to the dome itself a curved wall base can be designed, and implemented with Punch!'s curved wall technology, which supports Punch! doors, windows and other wall attachments. The dome options follow all the major styles of domes that have been used or propsed, like the "kite-facet" dome style. The facets are fully colorable or texturable and can be generated as 2D surfaces or as triangular segments to create the dome.
The domes can be created in a large number of configurations, using different basic solids, frequencies and classes to tailor the design to different uses. The bottom can be truncated to any degree to provide a flat base. This base may be supported by a Punch! curved wall that is created by GeoDome to match the dome.
The user of GeoDome must have the version of PlansPlus which matches GeoDome installed on the computer in order to use it. GeoDome and other MicroTools can simultaneously be used to enhance PlansPlus output.
