GeoDome is a plugin for PlansPlus which gives Punch! modules the capability of creating geodesic domes. Geodesic domes are one of the many designs that R. Buckminster Fuller advocated in his insightful analyses of design and the human need for shelter. These domes have many very nice properties from an engineering point of view, and have become favorites in alternative architecture as well as with practical people who need fast to construct, cheap shelters for all sorts of purposes. They are even beginning, 50 years after their introduction, to make significant inroads into normal archirtectural circles.
GeoDome allows the user to casually peruse all the popular types of geodesic domes that have been developed, both theoretically and practically, and to choose a design thta fits their needs. The selected design, which may include a cylindrical base system, is then rendered into the Punch! plan as a single 3D object (with the base a separate curved wall object). The dome may be edited in the 3D workshop after it is produced in GeoDome, and have individual facets or groups of facets turned into windows and other features. The curved wall base, having been implemented as a Punch! curved wall, can accomodate doors, windows and other attachments just as any other Punch! curved wall may. Portions of the curved wall may be removed entirely for access into an adjoining enclosure, for example.
GeoDome, as of version 2.1.0, is fully compatible with all Punch! PowerTool-enabled versions through level 12.x, including AS5000-12 and Master Landscape Pro-12. See the Compatibility page for more details.
