InSync - A TKE PowerTool for Punch!

Version 1.1.1

A user shouldn't have to visit each room in a drawing in order to change the type of the trim throughout a house, or the window widths or pane features. InSync is designed to ease the tedium of drawing and playing the what-if games that Punch! was designed to support so well.

InSync will create groups of objects of the same type, and allow the user to assign various of their possible Properties to them, at once, as a group. Groups of object may include as few as one, or as many such objects as there are in a plan. Groups may overlap; one group can be created to control the width of all the windows in a drawing, and a separate group to control the height of Windows on the second floor. Any group can control as many or as few Properties of the object type in any order. Groups can be created, deleted and objects within may likewise be added or deleted from groups. Complete flexibility is InSync's goal. Groups are named with whatever descriptive phrase the user desires, making them easy to remember. Groups persist in InSync on a per-project basis until they are explicitly deleted.

For example, a group named "interior doors" can be created to contain only the doors inside of a house. Doors have properties including:

The group "interior doors", when called up in InSync, may find that the door finish and width are currently identical for all members. InSync will indicate that by displaying the identical item's values (the doors are all finished in white color, and the widths are all 30"), but also show that the heights and frame colors do not agree. The user may then specify that all members are to have their heights set to 80", and their door angles all set to 25 degrees. This is done when InSync is done and returns to Punch!. Within the set of interior doors may be another set named "closet doors". Obviously setting all interior doors would set them as well, but a subsequent InSync call could set all the "closet doors" to 24", perhaps. Note that the changes are made when InSync exits for the group being affected; the settings are not maintained thereafter, so the user can change an individual interior door to a different color and not fear that it will be changed back unless one of the groups of which that door is a member sets the door finish property.

Compatibility

InSync, as of version 1.1.0, is fully compatible with all Punch! PowerTool-enabled versions through level 12.x, including AS5000-12 and Master Landscape Pro-12. See the Compatibility page for more details.
