Trims

Trims are used in four Punch! objects: walls, doors, windows and skylights. There are four separate trim specification on a given wall: the base trim on either side, an the crown trim on either side. Doors, windows and skylights have separate trims either side (top and bottom for skylights).

Punch! first implemented trim for wall bases, doors and windows in a restrictive manner. These "standard" trims on doors and windows were flat trims, with only an adjustable, per-object width. For walls there were three different styles of trim: plain, library panels and wainscot, each in just four standard sizes. After version 8.0 was introduced, wall and opening trims can now additionally be created in a custom workshop, with fancy profiles including curves, and exterior and interior corners (known as fillets and inverted fillets, respectively). In addition, crown molding trim for walls was implemented both in a single standard style, equivalent to the base plain trim, and in custom styles.

Anywhere trims exist, InSync can set them to common values, just as it does all the other attributes. As with finishes, trims are set in a separate window that look like this:

For wall base trims, all the older standard trim specs are available, along with the custom selection and a no-trim selection. For crown trims, only the single standard trim (in four sizes), the custom trim and no-trim are available. Like crown trim, trim on doors and windows may be the standard box trim or a custom trim. If custom trim is an available option (when supporting Punch! version 8.0 or above), then clicking on the Custom: radio button displays a dialog for selecting an existing custom trin option:
