PhotoView Images, Accessories, Shapes, Text

Down to the miscellaneous stuff, here. Just about through.

PhotoView Images

PhotoView Images are similar to billboards that can have transparent spots in them. They can be used to add photographic realism to a house facade, or add a backdrop to a scene. The dialog for setting selected photo properties is displayed below on the left.

Elevation Sets the vertical distance from the bottom of the image to the zero reference plane.

Height Sets the height of the image in the 3D. It should correspond, at least roughly, with the height of the pictured image at the most visually important range from the camera. The width of the image is set initially by Punch! by requesting both actual measurements. Thereafter it is embedded in the image's length on the plan, which an be stretched if need be.

Shadow? sets whether the image is to cast a shadow when shadows are rendered.

Mirror image? asks that the image be flipped left-for-right. Note that an image is also mirrored when viewed from the back.

Image sets the photoviews image, as defined by a .bmp image file on the disk. The path to the image can be set, thus setting a single image in the selected PhotoView objects.

Wall Accessories

Wall accessories are close kin to photoView images. These are images of wall dressings (such as pictures, curtains, blinds and curtains of various kinds) which are projected onto a PhotoView-like object just in front of the wall they are meant to decorate. The images appear as the desired curtains about a window, or other wall dressing. Wall Accessories are actually wall attachments as they require a wall to rest upon. Wall accessories are new in Punch! version 8.0. The dialog for setting selected wall accessory properties is displayed above on the right.

Accessory finish sets the image displayed in the accessories selected. The image is functionally the same as a texture, and so the same mechanism to browse and select the image is used.

Width/Height sets the widths/heights of the selected accessories.

Elevation sets the elevations of the accessories relative to the walls they occupy (see Elevation under Attachments). Unlike other object in attachments, the wall accessory's elevation is defined from the top, not the bottom, of the accessory to the bottom of the wall.

Distance to wall sets the distance that the accessories stand out from the wall.

Wall Side sets which side if the wall the accessory occupies, "left" or "right".

Shapes

Shapes are 2D drawings done on the horizontal Plans plane. They appear on the plans only, are not rendered in LiveView. The dialog for setting selected shape properties is displayed below.

Line thickness sets the thickness' of the lines used to draw the selected shapes. The sizes range from none to 20, plus the "hair" option which means to render the line in the thinnest way possible on the target media. For modern printers that can get pretty darned thin.

Line type sets the types' of the shape lines. The types are "solid", "centerline", "section", "division", "hidden" (as in a line hidden by another object, not a undrawn or empty line), "abstract", "dash dot dot", "dotted" and "dash dot".

Fill type sets the shape fills (known as hatching options). The options are "none", "left slant", "right slant", horizontal", "vertical", "cross-slant", "cross-hatch", "white" and "solid".

Closed? sets whether the shapes are closed or opened (i.e., the ends meet or the don't).

Autodimensions sets whether autodimensions are to be display. This is new in Punch! version 10.

Text

Text (as opposed to rotatable text) is text written left to right on the plan. It can be multi-lined, and the line wrapping is controlled by the user (with embedded new-line (Enter) characters) and sometimes by the text box the text is held in. The lines can be justified left, right or center. Changes to the text box size are always to the right and downward, leaving the position of the upper left corner of the text unchanged. The dialog for setting selected text properties is displayed below on the left.

Textbox width/height sets the width/height of the enclosing textbox. If it is set smaller than the text, it will automatically expand to enclose the text. If set larger, the box will expand to the right and downwards.

Text alignment sets the text bodies justification. The options are "left", "center", and "right".

Font properties sets the font properties, including the type face, size, weight, and Italics and underline modes. Note that some fonts do not recognize internal underline mode, so it often does nothing.

Text sets the textual contents of the texts that are selected.

Rotatable Text

Rotatable text can be can, unlike plain text, be rotated to any inclination (even 180 degrees, upside-down). On the other hand, the text may consist of only a single line, and the textbox cannot be controlled. Since it is single-line only, justification is not an option. The dialog for setting selected shape properties is displayed above on the right. The options have the same descriptions as the equivalent options in the Text description above, except for:

Angle sets the angles at which the selected texts incline. The range is 0-360 degrees. All rotatable text rotates about it upper left corner.
