Updating Punch! Content

Here are instructions on how to use the updater to correct errors in your Punch! content, using the Tke Content Updaters that are available here. These updaters use a standard software update package.

The first step is to download the correct updater from the Content Update page. That updaters is matched to your specific Punch! version. Using an updater for a different package will result in incomplete updating or errors. If you are doubtful about what exact package name and version you have, start your Punch! program, and note the name and version number on the splash screen. If it goes by too fast, it can be reviewed by clicking Hrlp->About Punch! from within the Punch! program.

After you download an updater, simply double-click on the downloaded icon (where ever it is located) and follow these steps:

The splash screen will be displayed, introducing you to the update process. Click Next.

The next screen notifies you that the update and the updated PowerTool or MicroTool continue to be protected by the license agreement that governs the use of the original product. Click Next.

The updater must be directed to the Punch! Main Folder. Note that the pathname in the Directory edit box is a dummy; it will not work by itself. It is only there because a default name is required. The actual path to the Punch! Main Folder will depend on the Punch! product installed and whatever custom install you may have done when you installed Punch!. In order to browse for that folder, click on the MENUOICK(...) button, and browse to the folder. If it was installed in it's default location, it will be at c:\Program Files\Punch! <program name>, but it may have been installed anywhere on the hard drive. Once the browse has located it, click on OK and the pathname to the folder should be displayed in the Directory box. Click on Next.

If all is well, and the updater verifies that the version of the program you have directed it to is indeed able to be updated by the updater, then you will see this dialog. Click Next.

The updater does the actual update, and displays the results. Click Next.

The company that produces the updater software displays an ad page; click Exit.~)
