What's Left To Do, and the Future

The following holes still exist in the coverage of Punch! functionality reflected in VRML Export Expert, as compared to Punch! version AS18:

• For doors, the 9 light, French and bifold doors are as yet undrawn;
• If a door steps outside the limits of the wall it is in, or a window meets the edge or exceeds it, the result will be door or window partially filled with wall texture, usually in an "X" shape. This is an error since Punch! doesn't react that way, and it will be fixed in a future release. FOr now do not design doors or windows that require existing outside the wall they are in.
• Punch! style surface shading is not yet done;
• Custom textures are done in scale but not yet in shading;
• Explicit lighting effects are not yet implemented;
• Floor cutouts are not implemented;
• Curved berms are treated as though the berms were straight from point to point;

Perhaps the most troublesome of these is the floor cutouts. However, it should be noted that you can always create a manual floor with the hole built in and avoid using the floor cutout tool altogether. This will work for VRML Export Expert, and create a hole through which a user can, for example, walk up stairs onto the floor through which the stairs rise.

The functionality added to Punch! in the version 8 file format (used in AS4000 and the version 8 upgrades of Platinum and Landscape Master Pro) has been encompassed by VRMLEX version 1.2.0, with the exception of the new terrain implementation.
