Campgrounds and RV Parks

The sine qua non for the motoring vacationer is campgrounds and RV Parks, for both overnight rest and as a final destination. There is no wonder that they are everywhere in the United States.

Campgrounds vary tremendously from elaborate to primitive. Elaborate campsites may include washrooms and showers with toilets, running water, pads for tents and pop-up trailers, down to a mere bare space on the ground for a tent and a parking place. RV Parks also range in quality, from a dirt pad for a short RV with no amenities to a pull-through concrete pad for a full sized RV with full hookups and wi-fi. Most RV Parks act as vacation destinations with nearby attractions and a regular schedule of activities for the vacationer.

There are, of course, mixed venues where both camping and RV parking exist, as well as lodges and cabins, motel rooms, permanent RV parking, trailer parking, and everything in between may be found.

One of the biggest sources of campgrounds and RV Parks, though more on the primitive side, are state and national entities: state parks, national parks, monuments, rec areas and particularly forests. Nothing surpasses these spots for vacationers who want to experience nature as close to hand as possible. Of course, many of the prominent national parks and monuments are filled up throughout the season. As with any such place, making advanced reservations is always the best way to make sure a slot is open.
